Our Impact: Spreading Love, One Act at a Time

“Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
This past Saturday was a beautiful reminder of what happens when a church family comes together with one heart and one purpose. Our Shoebox Christmas Project brought joy, teamwork, and generosity into the room.
From the moment we began, there was excitement in the air. Tables were filled with wrapping paper, toys, toiletries, sweets, stationery, and thoughtful gifts chosen with care. One by one, our church family filled shoeboxes for children and families who may be facing a difficult Christmas season. Each box wasn’t just packed with items, it was packed with hope, dignity, and a message in everyone's heart, "You are seen. You are loved. You matter.”
As we packed, we were reminded of Proverbs 19:17:
“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.”
Every box we created was an act of generosity that reflects God’s heart for His people.
Laughter echoed as we all worked side by side, choosing gifts, wrapping boxes, and praying quietly over each one. It was beautiful to watch our community unite in such a practical expression of Christ’s love. What began as simple items soon became powerful reminders of care and compassion.
Jesus teaches us the importance of serving others:
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35
And this project allowed us to live that truth together.
Thanks to everyone who participated, we now have a collection of beautifully wrapped shoeboxes ready to be sent out, boxes that will brighten Christmas morning for families who need a little extra light this year.
These moments are the heartbeat of The United Church Hyde.
Moments where faith becomes action.
Where giving becomes joy.
Where community becomes family.
And as Galatians 6:9 encourages us:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Thank you to every volunteer, every donor, every child who helped pack a box, and every person who prayed over this project. Together, we made a difference, one shoebox at a time.
